County Fair, Virginia Gazette - June 24, 2009 "The annual James City fair opens Thursday afternoon at Chickahominy Riverfront Park, celebrating the county´s 375th anniversary.
Over the years the garden tractor and antique tractor pulls have become a major draw. Kids can enter too. Look for the lawn mower race as well.The fair features a number of other competitions, including a rotten sneaker contest, a seed-spitting contest, the "Rise and Shine Baking Contest" and a search for the best angel food cake.
Other attractions include carnival and pony rides, a petting zoo, clowns, hay rides and karaoke. Camel rides are offered for the first time. Live music and dance acts are offered on the main stage, and after sundown the fireworks come out.

Williamsburg City Council vows to deal with three-person rule, Daily Press - June 11, 2009 The Williamsburg City Council vowed Thursday to continue to work with College of William and Mary students and local homeowners to deal with issues surrounding the city's controversial three-person rule. The board's promise came after members of a task force appointed by council members to come up with solutions to the city ordinance that limits the number of unrelated people that can live together in rental property failed to come to a consensus on how to deal with the infamous rule. Under the city's current ordinance, no more than three unrelated people can live together in a rental home located in Williamsburg. The ordinance was enacted in 1991 as a way to preserve the single-family character of local neighborhoods, but College of William and Mary students have strongly opposed the rule and fought to get it changed for years."
